Cooks from Asylum Link visited The Brain Charity to share their skills
News

Last October our staff visited Asylum Link Merseyside to help spruce up their reception and meeting rooms on a team building exercise. As a way of saying thank you, a group from Asylum Link visited our Brain Food Festival recently to give a healthy cookery demonstration to a packed room of hungry visitors, staff and volunteers.

The audience were shown how to create 3 dishes: Dhal, Roti and Spicy Basmati Rice. During the demonstration many people asked questions about the recipes, which helped them get a better idea of how to cook these dishes. Dhal kits were given out afterwards, which contained everything needed to prepare the meal at home for those inspired to have a go after having seen it made. Our visitors from Asylum Link had also produced a meal of Rice and Dahl for 50 people that was ready to serve after the demonstration and went down very well. Many who tried it were surprised that such a lot of flavour could be derived from so few ingredients.

We would like to thank everyone from Asylum Link who helped on the day and the LCVS Big Get Together for providing the funding to allow further sharing of skills and knowledge between our 2 charities – these links will continue to develop well beyond this project.
