The 13th of April 2018 marks the 6th annual International FND Awareness Day, when patients and their supporters across the globe unite together in the hope of improving the lives of the men, women and children with Functional Neurological Disorder (FND).
FND can have a negative impact on an individual’s quality of life and is similar to other neurological conditions such as Parkinson’s or epilepsy. Symptoms can include: involuntary movements, seizures, muscle weakness, sensory problems, speech difficulties, paralysis and more. It is thought to be the result of the brain’s inability to send and receive signals properly, rather than disease or damage, though the exact cause is unknown.
With little research being conducted into FND, many people are left without care or support, struggling to obtain a diagnosis and access appropriate services.
So, on the 13th April, join with us and others from around the world and #LetsTalkFND!
