The Brain Charity cafeCoronoavirus (March 18th): We will be closing the Café to the public over the next few days until further notice. It will continue to cater for room hire customers.
The café team will develop a 'meals on wheels' service which will deliver food to our vulnerable clients free of charge.
We will be seeking staff and volunteer support to develop this service over the weeks ahead.

The Brain Charity has been helping people with neurological conditions to live healthier and more fulfilling lives for over twenty years. We have now added a new element to our Norton Street base with the launch of our Brain Food Café. You can try out our delicious and nutritious range of meals, sandwiches, snacks and drinks. What an ideal place to meet up.

Our community is very close and now with the café there is always a warm atmosphere in the centre. We provide lots of different support to so many people but the café is a real hub for them all.

The Food

Healthy food at The Brain Charity's cafeAt The Brain Charity we are aware that food can affect our bodies and this, in turn, can either help or hinder neurological conditions. That is why our menu offers a range of foods and ‘superfoods’ that are good for brain health. Our foods are packed with essential vitamins, minerals and fatty acids such as Omega 3 and our daily specials incorporate at least 3 of your 5-a-day fruit and vegetables.

The Brain Charity serves a great selection of food starting from just £1.50. We always have sandwiches in our chiller ready to pick up, but we can also make a fresh one for you with your own choice of filling.

Tuna Jacket PotatoOur kitchen staff will often make a soup of the day with fresh seasonal produce, which is sometimes provided by our garden club members. There are old favourites too, like scouse and plated salads with servings of ham, tuna, cheese or hummus. Our baked potatoes are always cooked to perfection as we have our very own jacket potato oven. We want our Café to be a real community hub so dedicate ourselves to listening to customer feedback. If you have suggestions for recipes that we could try, or ways we could improve, we would love to hear them.

The Teas

Teas in glassesWe have five bespoke teas for sale that have been hand blended for us by the wonderful Lady Liver Tea based locally. These tasty beverages are full of ingredients that have positive effects on the body. Our TEAsey Rider blend uses ingredients that bust stress and the AphrodiTEA blend can boost your immune system.

These teas use natural ingredients and are produced in small batches to guarantee freshness. Priced at just £1.20 a pot, they’ve become so popular that they’re also available to buy in packs to take home or on our online shop. Not a tea drinker? We have you covered to with our freshly ground coffees with decaffeinated options available.

The People

Friends at The Brain Charity cafeOur cook leads a team of volunteers and staff to provide a high level of customer care to those visiting our Café. Nothing is too much trouble and we will do our best to cater for any special dietary requirements.

Sarah remembers her first visit to The Brain Charity centre – she was nervous as it was completely new to her. She knew she was in a caring place when one of the managers Carolyn offered her a coffee and sat down with her. From then on she has been coming back more and more often. Now Sarah is in the centre at least once a week volunteering for our brilliant Craft Club. Most people’s first experience of The Brain Charity is our café, we want their experience to be like Sarah’s so they can’t help but fall in love with the place.

The Place

The Brain Food Café is minutes from Lime Street station with good public transport links. We’re open for business 9am -5pm Monday to Friday. The centre has accessible toilets for anyone with mobility difficulties and the tables are built to be wheelchair user friendly. If you need help for any reason, our staff will be happy to bring your order to your table.

The Forum

If you have feedback or comments we would love to hear them. With the new forum on our website you can share your experiences of our café, as well as recipe ideas for items you’d like to see on the menu.

Another good way to use the forum is to share the affects that different foods have on your condition.

We are a grateful recipient of FareShare’s services, which help us to stock our cafe. They brought food to over 6,500 charities in the last year alone, ensuring it did not go to waste.

The players of People’s Postcode Lottery have supported The Brain Food Café through the Postcode Community Trust. We would like to thank them for funding our new kitchen equipment, seating and menu development.
