Listening to books is fun

One of the hardest challenges of any long term illness is managing activity levels, so having pastimes to keep you entertained can make a big difference to daily life.  Audiobooks are a great way to relax and relieve stress without the difficulty of concentrating or holding up a book for long periods.

Listening Books is a national UK charity offering a postal and online audiobook library service for anyone with a print impairment, including neurological conditions such as multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s, stroke, brain injury and many more.

They currently have free memberships available for people who would find it difficult to cover their normal membership fees of between £20 and £45 per year. Their library has over 7,500 titles, including bestselling authors such as J. K. Rowling, Lee Child, Marian Keyes, Matt Haig, George R. R. Martin, Terry Pratchett and many more.

Audiobooks are available to download through an app available for most tablets and smartphones, to stream online, or sent direct through the letterbox on MP3 CD with no postage costs or late fees.
