As many people are ‘shielding’ from coronavirus and not able to meet together in person just now, The Brain Charity has moved many of our activities online.

All of our online activities are free to attend and open to anyone affected by a neurological condition.

Here are some of our regular events:

Brain e-Quiz

The Brain Charity’s regular online quiz night is a real laugh. The questions aren't too hard, so everyone can have a go and there are music and picture rounds to suit all tastes. You can join as a team or come by yourself and we'll put you in a team on the night.

Here is one of our past quizzes to give you an idea of the kind of questions we ask.

As with all of our online activities, new people are warmly welcomed – just get the login details* and turn up on the night.

Brain e-Quiz is on each Thursday from 7-9 p.m.

Online exercise

If you haven't done any exercise for a while, then these classes are the perfect place to start getting fit again. This inclusive group offers gentle, guided, low-impact routines that are suitable for wheelchair users too. Sessions are guided by professional trainers from Greenbank Sports Academy who are skilled in motivating people to achieve their fitness goals in the best way possible.

Exercise is a great way to de-stress, relax and meet new friends, so if social isolation is getting you down, come and work out with us!

We would like to thank our friends from the North West Ataxia Support Group for opening their sessions to people with any neurological condition not just Ataxia.

Online exercise takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. - noon

Virtual coffee mornings

Our virtual coffee mornings provide the usual mix of advice, fun and friendship that you'll find at our regular monthly coffee mornings in at The Brain Charity, but in a fortnightly online chat room.

As well as providing you with any information you might need, these friendly, relaxed groups are a good place to catch up with news and find out about what's coming up at The Brain Charity too.

Virtual coffee mornings are on every other Monday from 10.30-11.30 a.m.

Saturday night social

Pour yourself a drink (alcoholic or non-alcoholic) and pull up a seat for our Saturday night social. Our volunteer Kim welcomes guests to her virtual home every other Saturday and you're invited too!

This online get together is a great place for a good natter about anything and everything and you’re guaranteed a few laughs along the way, so why not let your hair down and join us next time?

Our Saturday night social is on alternate Saturdays from 7-9 p.m.

Shared reading group

Our online shared reading group offers everyone the chance to enjoy a good yarn from the comfort of their own home. Just grab a brew and drop in in to one of our regular Monday lunchtime meet ups.

The way shared reading works is that the group leader reads out a short story, poem or part of a play and then we discuss the thoughts and feelings it sparks in us. Our group leader, from the reader organisation, is expert in cultivating a safe, creative space where each member feels valued, energised and listened to.

You won’t be expected to read out loud and there's no homework or advance preparation required - you just login* and take part on the day.

Shared reading is on Mondays from 12.30-13.30 p.m.

The Brain Charity are adding more online activities to this list all the time, so check out our events calendar to keep up-to-date or phone our helpline for more information.
