Thank you for your interest in our Befriending Service at The Brain Charity. We are sorry, but we must let you know about an important change that’s happened with this service.
Over time, we have faced increasing challenges in sustaining the service as it is currently run. As a result, the Befriending Service has been gradually wound down and came to an end in April 2025.
This decision was not made lightly and we recognise the impact it may have on those who have benefited from the friendships and support it has provided.
We’d like to take a moment to express our deep gratitude to everyone who has been part of our Befriending Service—our volunteers, our service users and our supporters.
This work has made a real difference – helping people feel less alone, providing support when it was most needed and creating meaningful connections that have genuinely improved lives.
We remain hopeful and determined to bring back this vital service as soon as we can secure the necessary funding and resources.
Meanwhile, here are some other services that you may benefit from:
- Sense has a virtual buddying service for people with disabilities.
- Epilepsy UK has a befriending service.
- Age UK have a national telephone befriending service for older people.
- Befriending networks has a whole directory of befriending services too that can be quite helpful.
